Today is the first day of Advent, the beautiful liturgical season of “waiting” that brings the birth of our Savior.
It also means it’s our Christian New Year as we turn the page to a new “year” in our readings.
Today, as I turned to the Psalm reading for today, I was met with Psalm 146 and had to share the first two verses with you. They are so inspiring and encouraging and feel — to me — the best, most exuberant way to begin our New Year. I hope you enjoy them too!
Here they are:
Praise the Lord! With my whole being I praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have breath.
Psalms 146:1โญ-โฌ2 FBV
What are your New Year’s resolutions at this beginning of Advent? Mine are to draw ever closer to God, steep more in His word, and be as obedient as I can! All while waiting on the birth of the guy who changed everything for me–Jesus!
Happy New Year, everyone! ๐
