A few days ago, I was listening to the daily scripture meditation on the Pray as You Go app. I like to listen to it while I’m sitting outside in the mornings watching my dogs romp around the yard while I enjoy my coffee.
This is the scripture from a few days ago:
“Soon after Jesus went to a town called Nain, accompanied by his disciples and a large crowd. As he approached the town gate a funeral procession was coming the other way. The man who had died was the only son of a widow, and a sizeable crowd from the town was with her.
When the Lord saw her he was filled with compassion for her. ‘Don’t cry,’ he told her. Jesus went over to the coffin and touched it, and the pall-bearers stopped. Jesus said, ‘Young man, I tell you, get up.’ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. A sense of awe filled everyone there and they praised God, saying, ‘A great prophet has arisen among us,’ and ‘God has visited his people.’ News about Jesus spread throughout Judea, and all around.” ~Luke 7:11-17 FBV
It really made me think about life and death. Specifically about the death of certain things in my life. Not people, but
Dreams
Adventures
Experiences…
…that I thought were long dead and gone.
But I am seeing now that God has other plans
PRAISE HIM! 🙌
You see, I’ve had a lot of things die in my life.
My music career.
A few marriages. Yes, I said a few. (Hey. I’m being honest here.)
My writing.
My dreams of ministry.
Or so I thought.
Our God is a God of resurrection. And, when He planned something for you since before time began, He will see it through to completion.
And, yes. You can jack this up and go your own way. He allows that. It’s that whole “free will” thing and all.
But wouldn’t you rather know where you will be successful rather than wander around in the desert like a cotton-headed ninnymuggins for 40 years like I did?
Don’t. Be. Me.
What do you need God to bring back from the dead today? Ask Him to resurrect that dream. That need. That relationship. That ANYTHING.
And let’s see what He has in store.
