This scripture means a lot to me.

Why?

It’s one of those scriptures that sticks out.

That catches me.

That sits here waving its flag saying, ” Hey! Hey! Pay attention to me!”

It provokes a seriousness in me. A warning.

Of not taking my freedom God has given for me as a Christ-follower for granted.

You see, God has given each of us a gift–a gift we can use for good or evil. The gift of free will. What we choose to do with it is entirely up to us. Oh, the freedom.

When we accept the gift Jesus gave to us on the cross, God gives each of us a new life and all the freedoms that come with it. Like a slave released from bondage, we are free to do and roam about as we please. What we do with this changes everything.

I am reminded of a scripture that, for me, is gross to think about.

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.”
Proverbs 26:11 NIV

I know. Gross, right? But, when God has changed our lives and given us back our freedoms, how likely are we to return…

To the comfortable?

To the familiar?

To the complacency?

Today, ask God. Are you walking in your freedom? Or, wallowing in your vomit? And, if you are walking backwards instead of forwards — and you want to head in a better direction — let’s pray! And, together we will discover God’s path for you!

May God bless you richly this week.
