How Kindle Vella Saved My Life

Hey there!

I hope you are having a bright and shiny day!

Even though my days seem bright and shiny now, this past year has been rough for me.
Mental Health-wise. Drama-wise. You name it! But one thing remains the same:

I’m a writer, and I have to WRITE! God made me that way. It’s just in me. Do you have something you HAVE to do? Dance? Sing? Make crocheted granny squares? Well, that’s writing for me.

I just have to get it out.

And this past year, while all its ups and downs totally knocked me off my feet, I kept writing. Although not as much as in years past, but that’s okay. I WROTE! And it made my days shine brighter when I did.

When my schedule got so busy taking my daughter to numerous appointments that I couldn’t handle “one more thing,” I picked the one day she had appointments back-to-back where I had one hour.

One hour to do what I love. So, I wrote. And that is how Kindle Vella saved my life last year.

Every Tuesday, I sat in the driver seat of our car, laptop awkwardly propped up in my lap, and I typed out episodes of The Secrets of Claymore Castle. It was a schedule and a rhythm I could stick with. Every Tuesday from 2:30pm until a little before 3:30 when I had to go inside and pick her up. I looked forward to this time to let me creative juices flow. I would write one full episode. I could be who God created me to be even in the midst of uncertainty. God gave me that to hold on to.

The Secrets of Claymore Castle is written in short episodes. Think binge watching episodes in seasons on Netflix. I finished Season 1, and I celebrated! I did it! I finished something! And then I started on Season 2.

And a few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Amazon. Kindle Vella didn’t “take off” like they wanted so they are “winding it down.”

What does this mean for you?

If you have any tokens left and still need to finish reading The Secrets of Claymore Castle, this is the time to do so. After December 4th, I am no longer able to upload any new content. My stories will be gone in February 2025 when they shut the service completely down.

What does this mean for me?

Well…

My dream is to make The Secrets of Claymore Castle into a book. It’s finished and is ready to publish, so this is the next step I am looking into.

I will keep you updated on when I officially remove my content. Self publishing a book is a huge undertaking. Am I up for the challenge? You betcha I am! And with you behind me, I know I can get this done!

I am so immensely grateful for this time I had on Kindle Vella. It kept me motivated and encouraged; and I wrote a FUN story that I am proud of and want to share with the world. That’s a blessing to me. And I hope it blessed you too.

God is always faithful. And He always gives us what we need to succeed.

If you’d like to read it in its current form, you can still purchase tokens and read it online in your Kindle app. But remember, you can no longer purchase tokens after December 4.

I am still receiving emails from Amazon and need to look further into all the legal stuff, so I will keep you posted on when my content will be removed from the site and next steps.

For now, here’s the link and happy reading! I hope you enjoy it!  The first three episodes are free so there’s no pressure to check it out. The Secrets of Claymore Castle

Thanks so much for being with me on this journey. Comment below if you need to get with me directly. Be blessed!

Until next time!
