Tip #1 for Taking Care of Yourself in 2025

One thing I always have to remind myself to do is…

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵.

I know it seems simple enough. But when I’m hyper focused on my writing or other creative endeavors, I get so caught up in the typing and the thinking and the brainstorming that I too often forget to MOVE.

So don’t be like me. Get up and STRETCH–> Here’s why you should:

Stretching improves circulation and prevents, what I call, “Tin Man Syndrome.”

Have you ever experienced that feeling when you stand up after sitting for too long and you can’t move? That feeling of being the Tin Man without any oil? This is because sitting in one position for too long can restrict blood flow and cause muscles to stiffen. Stretching regularly helps promote better circulation and helps keep your muscles all loosey goosey.

Stretching helps prevent hand injuries.

Repetitive motion can cause all sorts of problems. So, be sure to stretch out your hands and wrists when you get up to move around. If you are a writer and creative like me we gotta keep our money-makers nimble!

Stretching reduces stress.

Did you know that stretching triggers the release of endorphins? And what does that mean exactly? —>An improved mood and better mental well-being. You’re welcome.

And the best reason to get up and stretch if you are a writer or artist is…

Taking frequent stretching breaks boosts your productivity and mental focus.

Nothing beats taking a deep breath while you stretch out all your muscles. Even a short stretching break refreshes your body and mind. Stretching is known to reduce fatigue, improve posture, and increase mental clarity, allowing you to be more focused and productive throughout your day. So, when you feel like you just can’t write or create any more, get up and STRETCH. Your body–and your artistic work–will thank you for it.
