Today is MLK Day in the USA.
So I want to talk about service and serving one another in love.
MLK Day “honors the legacy of equality, service and connection” of Martin Luther King Jr.
Today “is a day to reflect on the profound contributions of a man who championed justice, equality, and peace.” (Cliftonhill.com)
And in my town, we serve. At least we used to. We used to have this huge MLK Day of remembrance calendar full of community gardening events, neighborhood cleanups; you name it!
Maybe I just don’t tune in to the right channels anymore?
And although I did see a list of activities today from my local news app, it isn’t quite the same.
And why is that?
Is it too cold?
Did the people who headed these events move on?
I wonder today. And I wonder how I can serve. Not just today, but every day.
Because Jesus came to serve, not to be served.
I recently saw a post about ways to biblically strengthen your marriage, and one of them was serving alongside your spouse. Wouldn’t that be amazing?!?
I would love to do that! Me and The Hubs out changing the world! Together.
But he works weird days. And we can’t go to church together, so serving at church is out.
What are some ideas to get us out serving? Let me know what you do!
Proverbs 3:27 (NIV) says,
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
We ALL have the power to act. How will YOU change the world?
