I just had a birthday! And a significant one at that. It’s my “Jubilee Birthday” as I call it. Numero 50. The Big 5-0.
And with it being my 50th year, I keep being reminded of the Year of Jubilee. Have you heard of it?
It is mentioned in Leviticus 25. Here are some of its highlights.
Verse 10 says, “And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan.”
It continues in verses 11-12 saying, “A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; in it you shall neither sow, not reap what grows of itself, nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines. For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat what it yields out of the field.” (emphasis my own)
The Year of Jubilee is a year of celebration, rest and restoration. The things taken away are returned. Family members who were separated were “returned to their clans.” The balance of life is restored back to its intended purpose.
And I am embracing it this year. When I prayed about my word for 2025, I received in my Spirit the word “restored.” And I receive it.
The last few years have been hard for me. So going into 2025, I promised myself that I wouldn’t allow the bad things that come to derail me from the track God has laid out for me like I have in the past when I would get quiet, hide away, and not write here to you.
I am on His path now and will stay on it.
So I am embracing this Year of Jubilee in my life. Its rest. Its restoration. And its celebration of renewed hope.
I have a renewed dream for my writing. And I am so blessed that you are on this journey with me.
I have a renewed hope for my future. Jeremiah 29:11 (one of my favorites) says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (NKJV)
In other versions, it says, “for I know the plans I have for you….”
“Plans” I just love that word. To me, it means He planned my purpose in advance. God planned ahead all the things He wants me to do for Him. It’s not a willy-nilly thing that just happens.
God has plans for each of us. He has super mighty plans for you. No matter how far we’ve gone off track and derailed ourselves. No matter if we’ve left those train tracks in a twisted heap of wreckage,
God.
Will.
Fix.
It.
If we ask Him.
So in this, my Year of Jubilee, I am asking God to fix all my messes, to get me back on track and to restore me back to the person He created me to be in the first place. Because it’s my 50th year—my Year of Jubilee—and He promises to do it.
And He will fix all your messes too. You don’t have to be whole and perfect. None of us ever are, in fact. Just come. Just ask Him. If you need to, pray these words–> “God, please fix it.” And He will. Watch Him work.
I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you. Because you are on this train ride with me, and we are blowing that horn LOUD right now!
I may not know God’s exact plans for our futures, but I do know this…
I’m off to read Leviticus 25 again. Because I don’t know a better place to start out my Year of Jubilee than in His Word. Here’s the link if you’d like to read along with me.–> https://www.bible.com/bible/59/LEV.25.ESV
