Comparisons.

We all make them. 

Whether we’re comparing dinner options or people, comparisons give us options.

Which one is better?

Which one relates best to who I am in this moment?

When I’m reading the scriptures, I want options too. Options give me wisdom and clarity when I feel a verse is wonky in a certain version.

So, when I don’t understand what God is telling me through His word, I compare the versions. YouVersion Bible app makes this super easy for me. I simply tap the scripture, then hit “Compare,” and voila! And, if you hit the 3 horizontal bars in the upper right corner, you can add more versions to choose from and read through.

This has helped me numerous times when the wording of the version I’m in is confusing, and I just don’t “get it.”

What is your go-to version of the Bible that resonates with you the most?

I like three!

The English Standard Version and the New Revised Standard version are my go tos.

But my FAVE is the Free Bible Version. It has super, duper easy words, which makes His Word approachable and easy to understand because “His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30)

  1. But does God speak in versions…? Or does God just speak, and a soul attune with the Will of God… listens…!

    Versions are man’s attempt to make palatable the Will of God to his ear… his many, many ears…!

    1. Hey there, My friend! Yes, God just speaks. One of my favorite verses is “My sheep know my voice.” And as the Holy Spirit guides us to understanding, I feel the different versions connect us to him even further as our human attempt to understand the Living God. He is so awesome and just wants to have a connection and a relationship with him like a best friend. He makes it easy. We make it hard. Lol
