A friend of mine and I do a Bible study every single night. We’ve been doing it for years now, and tonight we read Isaiah 48 together.
I love this time together. I love sharing the word of God with someone else. I love reading through the scriptures and exploring and discussing and just talking about the Word and will of God
Today I want to talk about the “wicked.”
โThere is no peace,โ says the Lord, โfor the wicked.โ
~Isaiah 48:22 ESV
God talks about the wicked a lot in scripture mostly to let us know all the horrible things that are gonna happen to them.
Doesn’t that make you feel good? That the wicked are gonna get it in the end?
But that’s not how God wants us to think about them.
Our job–as God frequently reminds us in scripture–is to love our enemies. Love those who persecute us. Love the wicked.
How does that make you feel? Do you say to yourself, “How can I love the wicked? How could I love the people who do wrong things? How can I love the people who hurt others?”
But that’s exactly what God asks of us.
And, that’s exactly what forgiveness is for.
